Based in southern California, I’m a produced screenwriter with comedy and mystery credits in Germany.
I studied classics and sociology at Stanford (B.A.), where I acted in theater productions and a student film. After working in publishing and odd jobs, I returned to school to study applied linguistics at San Jose State University (M.A.).
A passion for stories led me to write comedic novels under the pen name Gwen Ellery and fantastical suspense as Imogen Bold. As for screenplays, I write them as me, myself and I: Deanna Carlyle. On moving to SoCal, I became active in a development lab for screenwriters and actors called Deadline Junkies, a series of table reads in North Hollywood theaters.
In my free time, I hike, read, and study animation and video editing techniques. I’m proficient in After Effects, AVID and Premiere Pro.
